§ 71.12. OBEDIENCE TO OFFICIAL TRAFFIC-CONTROL DEVICES.

  • (A) The driver of any vehicle shall obey the instructions of any official traffic-control device applicable thereto placed in accordance with the traffic ordinances of this city, unless otherwise directed by a police officer, subject to the exceptions granted the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle in this title.
    (B) A person who drives a vehicle shall stop at an intersection where a stop sign is erected at one or more entrances to a through street, yielding to vehicles that are not required to stop.

    (C) A person who drives a vehicle approaching a yield sign shall slow down to a speed reasonable for the existing conditions or stop if necessary. The person shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian legally crossing the roadway, and to a vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another street so closely as to present an immediate hazard. After yielding, the person may proceed, and all other vehicles approaching the intersection shall yield to the vehicle proceeding.
